Ferrule Crimping Tool Sample Evaluation Checklist for Importers

Evaluate the terminal system before placing a bulk order

For importers and electrical-tool distributors, approving a ferrule crimper means checking a specific combination of tool, conductor, ferrule and terminal block. A tool range alone does not prove that every combination is suitable. Record the sample configuration so the approved sample can be compared with the order.

1. Define the sample request

Send the ferrule manufacturer and part number, insulated or non-insulated type, conductor cross-section and construction, required crimp profile, and terminal-block requirements. List the sizes your customers actually use rather than asking only for the widest advertised range.

As a catalog example, the WXC8 6-4Pro is listed for 0.25–10 mm², AWG 23–7, with a 175 mm length and 0.36 kg weight. These are catalog specifications, not a certification or a guarantee for every terminal system. See our same-company WXC8 6-4Pro product specifications.

2. Record condition and operation

  • Photograph the model marking, jaws, handles and supplied packaging when the sample arrives.
  • Check alignment, opening and closing action, and the release mechanism against the supplied instructions.
  • Prepare samples at the sizes relevant to your planned assortment, using the conductor and ferrule maker’s instructions.
  • Record incomplete cycles, visible damage or fit concerns and send the observations to the supplier before approving production.

3. Agree on acceptance criteria

Ask the terminal-system manufacturer or a qualified test provider which inspection methods and acceptance criteria apply. Do not use an arbitrary pull-force value or treat appearance alone as proof of an acceptable electrical connection. This checklist is a procurement record, not a test certificate or an instruction for live electrical work.

RecordInformation to capture
Sample identityTool model, sample reference, receipt date and photographs
Terminal combinationFerrule part number, conductor size and terminal-block reference
Evaluation methodManufacturer instructions, agreed criteria and person responsible
Observed resultsSize tested, fit observations, exceptions and supporting photographs
ApprovalAccepted configuration, unresolved questions and approved reference sample

4. Carry the approved details into the purchase order

Confirm model quantities, labeling, instruction language, packaging, included accessories and the agreed sample reference. For private-label packaging, approve the artwork and confirm feasibility before treating a design as part of the order. Keep sample evaluation separate from any inspection plan agreed for the finished shipment.

Order terms and quotation checklist

MOQ: 500. Mixed orders are available; confirm the model mix with our team. Samples are charged, with sample shipping refunded after an order is placed. Typical lead time is 15–45 days, subject to agreed order details.
