Oil Can Purchase Orders: Specify Pump Type, Capacity and Carton Packing
“300 cc oil can” is not a complete purchase specification. In the Torchmark catalog, CJ-001 and CJ-003 share that capacity but have different pump specifications. A distributor comparing quotations should therefore identify the model, pump and packing separately.
Write the model and pump on the same order line
| Model | Capacity | Catalog pump specification |
|---|---|---|
| CJ-001 | 300 cc | Plastic pump |
| CJ-002 | 500 cc | Plastic pump |
| CJ-003 | 300 cc | Metal pump |
| CJ-004 | 500 cc | Metal pump |
These values come from Torchmark Oil Can Catalog, PDF page 2. They identify the versions; they do not establish which pump lasts longer or works with a particular fluid. Request compatibility confirmation and evaluate the actual sample before making those claims to your customers.
Separate product capacity from shipping information
The catalog lists 60 pieces per carton for each of these models. The 300 cc versions list 48 × 38 × 44 cm cartons; the 500 cc versions list 48 × 43 × 49 cm cartons. Do not apply one carton size to every line of a mixed order.
For reference, multiplying those dimensions gives approximately 0.0803 m³ and 0.1011 m³ per listed carton. These are calculated geometric volumes, not a freight quotation. Final packaging, palletization and the carrier's charging rules may change the shipment calculation. Obtain a confirmed packing list before booking freight.
Resolve the partial-carton question
A 500-piece total does not divide evenly into 60-piece cartons. That arithmetic does not automatically change the minimum order to 540 pieces. Ask whether the proposed mix will use partial cartons, revised packing or a different agreed quantity. Record that agreement instead of silently rounding the purchase order.
Use a comparable RFQ checklist
- Model, pump type, capacity and quantity for each line.
- Lubricant type, viscosity and intended operating conditions.
- Confirmed spout configuration and any label or packaging requirements.
- Sample charges and sample freight shown separately.
- Pieces per carton, number of cartons, dimensions, gross/net weights and units.
- Delivery destination and lead time for the complete order.
Do not infer kilograms from an unlabeled weight field or treat a missing net weight as zero. Request clarified values from the supplier.
Keep the approved sample connected to the order
Record the sample model, pump version, supplied instructions and packaging. Agree acceptance criteria appropriate to the intended lubricant, and record actual observations rather than assumed performance. If the quotation or label differs from the sample, resolve it before approving the bulk order.
Request a model-specific quotation
Our minimum order is 500 pieces, with mixed orders accepted subject to confirmed allocation. Samples are charged; sample freight is refunded after an order is placed. Typical lead time is 15–45 days, subject to the confirmed order.
